Layers

For this art work I tried to use different shades of blue and red and orange to create a sense of depth. I wanted to create a feeling of contrast between the dark and the light colours.
The drip section of the painting also helps me create a sense of depth. My painting also has a lot of negative space, which makes it stand out more than my other paintings.

Only once we abandon the notion that Art is the skilful imitation of appearances, can we begin to understand the profound nature of non-representational abstract works and the intellectual facility required to create them.
In the minimalist/conceptual tradition, my paintings are investigations of pictorial space. The viewer’s response is generated through the interaction of hypnotic shapes and lines, bright, undiluted colours and an air of balance.
With an almost compulsion, the viewer is drawn into the ineffable: that space which exists in and beyond the everyday world. My understanding of the principles of visual organisation and a technical excellence that is, in itself a vehicle of aesthetic value.
