Artwork Description

The loose brushstrokes used for the ocean complement the blended tones in the clouds to create a serene seascape full of beauty and warmth.

Artist Bio

I live in the small coastal town of Barwon Heads, Victoria where my daily walks provide me with endless inspiration. It is perfect for a painter of seascapes. I immerse myself in the ebb and flow of the tides, capturing the ever-changing moods of the ocean. Through my dedication to representing the ocean's beauty I aim to foster a deeper connection between humanity and the marine world, reminding us of our responsibility to cherish and protect these precious waters. I have been painting for over 40 years since first learning the basics from Paul McDonald Smith OAM. In my early years I belonged to the Heidleberg Artists Society and exhibited all over Melbourne with them. Recently I became a member of the Victorian Artist Society as well as holding current memberships for Hoop Gallery in Torquay and the Barwon Heads Arts Council. I have had solo exhibitions in Japan, NE Victoria and on the Bellarine Peninsula. My awards include a Highly Commended at the Bright Art Show and the People's Choice Award at the 2026 Queenscliff Art Prize. I stepped away from the professional art scene for a number of years until 2 years ago when I decided it was time to again focus on what I love doing. Since returning to painting I have taken part in several group shows and had 2 solo shows this year. I have been included in 3 curated Art Shows including the 2026 Camberwell Art Show. My work hangs in collections both here in Australia and overseas. I was represented in Japan for 9 years by Cairns Nature Gallery in Osaka. I currently have artworks on show at Framed Art Gallery in Ocean Grove and Untether Gallery in Geelong. Although I mainly focus on seascapes I also do landscapes and floral works. I am happy to do commissions.
