Artwork Description

She creates incredible Chigiri-e (Japanese Rice Paper art). Chigiri-e works by tearing and cutting small pieces of specially made and imported Japanese rice paper. None of the shapes and images are painting or pre-drawn. They are created by the artist composing the work, drawing and cutting each piece of coloured rice paper. The pieces are then carefully glued onto high quality white canvas. It is not decoupage, rather a much more intricate and traditional Japanese art applied to contemporary style compositions.
