Artwork Description

A celebration of home, belonging, and the quiet strength found in knowing where you stand.

At the heart of this piece is a bold kookaburra, gazing forward with a sense of purpose and quiet confidence. Beneath him, layers of ochre, stone and richly textured earth create a feeling of solid ground, a reminder of the foundations that hold us, shape us, and give us somewhere to return to.

Woven into the painting are textures made with sand collected from my own local beach, bringing a literal piece of home into the work. For me, this makes the painting more than an image of a bird or a landscape; it becomes a reflection on what it means to belong somewhere, to feel rooted, and to know that you have a place in the world.
Where I Stand is about finding strength in your foundations, carrying home with you, and looking ahead with quiet certainty.

A reminder that wherever life takes us, there is power in knowing where we stand.
