Artwork Description

Globe Artichoke (Cynara cardunculus)
Artichokes symbolise hope, prosperity and love. These tall, proud, architectural plants grow all over the world today, but originated in the Mediterranean where is believed Ancient Greek God Zeus took Cynara, a beautiful young woman to Olympus to make her a goddess. When she escaped to visit her family, this outraged Zeus so he turned her into an artichoke.
This illustration is rendered in coloured pencil using a custom digital brushed, printed onto museum grade archival Hahnemühle.Photo Rag 380 gsm paper.
It is perfect for a variety of interior settings, as a stand alone composition or as one of a group.

Artist Bio

Hello! I'm Kaye Lister, an artist, illustrator and designer based in Australia, catering to individuals and businesses globally.
As a seasoned artist, illustrator, and graphic designer, I bring a unique touch to each project and evolved my passion into a successful business that seamlessly combines my love for nature, textiles, travel, and daily life events.
Apart from a brief interest in Archaeology as a child, I think I have always wanted to be an artist of some sort. I am fortunate enough to realize this ambition and have worked in the fields of textile design, fine art, commercial art, graphic design and art education.
Alongside my daily practice, I regularly work on personal projects, which allow me to experiment with new ideas and techniques. I look forward to these projects, and once immersed time slows down, which allows me to reflect and make sense of life’s face pace.
I like to work with traditional mediums including, graphite and coloured pencil, paint, paper and textiles. Equally, I enjoy the convenience of digital drawing and painting, using custom coloured pencil and paint brushes.
