Artwork Description

This work will be on display at the Bluethumb Gallery in Richmond, Melbourne for the 2023 Bluethumb Art Prize Finalists Exhibition from October 11th to November 27th. Delivery of this work will take place following the 2023 Bluethumb Art Prize Awards Night on October 26th.

I enjoyed capturing this setting of flaming hot tulips and warm green pears. I tried to saturate the palette, capturing the brightest colours. This colourful composition reflects my anticipation for spring.

Artist Bio

Keanna-Belle Sacilotto is a self-taught, Queensland-based oil painter whose work is rooted in the beauty and objects of her everyday life. A homebody by nature and a devoted mother, she draws inspiration directly from the world she tends and cares for β€” her sanctuary, her home.

Her practice centres on still life and nature painting, where ordinary objects hold extraordinary presence. A vase of fresh flowers brought home simply to add beauty becomes a study in colour and form. Fruit purchased for nourishment and family becomes a moment of contemplation β€” a focal point of light, texture, and symbolism. In this way, her creative life is inseparable from her lived life: the domestic becomes devotional.

Driven by a deep desire to continually refine her skills, Keanna-Belle approaches every painting as both a challenge and a quiet meditation. She is dedicated to honing her technique β€” exploring the nuances of colour, the discipline of realism, and the subtle craftsmanship that allows simple subjects to feel alive, luminous, and full of emotion. Each canvas becomes an opportunity to elevate the familiar, to sharpen her eye, and to become more precise, patient, and intentional in her craft.

Although her style is realistic, it is neither clinical nor overly polished. Instead, there is a softness to her realism β€” a gentle blending, a calmness β€” that reflects the peaceful environment in which her work is created. This softness makes her paintings feel approachable and human, holding moments of quiet domestic life without excess or ornamentation.

Her compositions are thoughtful and intentional: a single vase, a couple of pieces of fruit, a small cluster of stems or petals. The restraint in her arrangements highlights her sensitivity to form and balance, making each object feel precious without being precious in attitude. There is a modern simplicity in the way she frames her subjects, allowing negative space and gentle lighting to heighten their emotional presence.

This blend of warmth, intention, and disciplined observation defines her artistic voice β€” a realism that is reflective rather than literal, intimate rather than grand, and deeply rooted in the beauty of the everyday.

Keanna-Belle has exhibited in the Affordable Art Fair (Melbourne), Aspire Gallery, and Stevens Street Gallery, with collectors drawn to the gentleness and authenticity of her vision.

For Keanna-Belle, art is not separate from life β€” it grows out of it. Her home inspires her, grounds her, and ultimately becomes her muse.
