Straight lines and I are not studio buddies!
Enjoying a long standing love affair with the quiet and simple beauty of our land. Being amongst it's ever changing colour and texture year round, always fills my heart and drives my studio practice. Having always included natural elements remembered from my walks or long drives, into my studio practice. No matter the materials I am investigating, the hard lines and cold surfaces of life in the city are erased once my apron goes on.
Drafting organic and layered marks in mixed media across the canvas, carving thrown forms with the rhythm of air circulating land or my stupidly precise and involved colour play on my printing press, layering transparent shape over shape to build remembered landscapes. Straight lines are very seldom seen in my work.
I am more interested in enjoying the process of making, the way I feel when making. The finished outcome is a beautiful bonus for all to enjoy. The super dooper bonus is when the viewer feels a connection to land when witnessing one of my works. Now that makes my heart smile.
