Hello! Thanks for stopping in.
My name is Kellie and I am an artist and illustrator, with an ever-evolving graphic-influenced style. When I finished school (ahem... in the '90's....) I was told that I would never make any money as an artist, and so, like many other creatives, funnelled myself into a Graphic Design course at university along with 50 million others. Many a year was spent filling a brief for others, always dabbling in my own art on the side. I also have Interior Design qualifications and worked in designing kitchens & bathrooms, but it never set my soul on fire like art does. When I had my children, something in me ignited and I have been actively pursuing it ever since.
My interests are portraiture - both illustrative and realism (I have painted and drawn a load of pet portraits in my time). I like the study of shadows and expression and negative spaces in my work. I am a graphic novel kid so I love the bold, expressive, emotive qualities of faces, and that shows in my work. I hope to loosen up my style in the future.....
The influences I have are Poh Ling Yeow, Annette Bezor, Belinda Eaton and many other clever, unique and inspirational people.
