Hello! I'm a small town Artist and Mother who loves all things nature. I create my art using traditional painting techniques using watercolour, acrylic, oil, ink, and graphite. My main subjects are nature and home life, I paint illustrative still life, abstract, impressionist still life, symbolism, and landscapes on canvas or artist quality paper. I like to instil mood into my art, giving the viewer an invitation to connect with a feeling, a memory, or a moment it time that once was and thatโs now lost, or is yet to be. I am inspired by what we are doing now in the present; walks on the beach, watching the sun filter through the trees, sitting by the garden path, the literature we read or the shows we watch, the history we reflect on, the people we meet, and the things we dream about.
Painting is a way of expressing my feelings and thoughts and is influenced by my very surroundings; my garden, the beach down the road, the hills behind our home, the pine trees and eucalypt in the woods, my cat curled up on a cushion, the dogs lounging on the backdeck, and the birds singing in the trees in our backyard. Painting is how I connect, brushing my way through life, moving in and through all my feelings and thoughts of love and grief while everything in the world is going on around me. It's a chance for me to rise above all the adversity that life brings, to be still and present in my own creation, to reflect on the losses I have suffered and the family and friendships I have gained. A piece of who I am goes into every artwork.
