Acrylic on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.
Signed on the front.
This handsome red and green macaw preens nonchalantly against a purple background.
He contains all the colours of the rainbow. Literally!
His bright feathers are accentuated with fluorescent paint and metallic gold which means he jumps out at the viewer depending on the angle of viewing.
Not only is he very colourful, he also has some amazing textures. His beak is scratched, his tongue is rough, his feathers are spikey and smooth. All of these things are enhanced by the simplicity of the plain black background that he stands against.
This piece is currently unframed (black edges, but ready to hang - he does have a hanging wire) but a frame would finish him off and can be arranged through Bluethumb. A timber frame would add a warmth if your interior has warm colours, or a modern black frame would also suit.
I have completed another similar piece (size and style) which should also be considered as a pair - Pretty in Pink - a bright pink flamingo. They are both tropical birds and would look amazing together in the right location.

Or make it a trio with - the pair of crested cranes "The Lovebirds"
