Artwork Description

Movie art lovers, where are you?

Robin McLaurin Williams (July 21, 1951 – August 11, 2014) was an American actor and comedian. Known for his improvisational skills and the wide variety of characters he created on the spur of the moment and portrayed on film, in dramas and comedies alike, he is regarded as one of the greatest comedians of all time. He received numerous accolades including an Academy Award, two Primetime Emmy Awards, six Golden Globe Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and five Grammy Awards.

This interpretation of Robin is based on a younger photo of him - circa his Mork and Mindy days. Complementary colours orange and blue mean that he is striking from a distance. Abstract elements encourage interest.

Colours may appear different on different devices. This painting is framed in a black Tasmanian oak floating frame.

It would suit modern decor, or a man cave. Perfect for a Robin fan that loved his comedy or movies.

Part of a series of artists with untimely ends.

Artist Bio

Born in Adelaide and now based in Queensland, I’m an Australian artist creating expressive figurative and nature-inspired paintings. My work explores feeling, movement and the way colour shapes atmosphere.

After many years in the health and social services sector, painting became a way to restore balance and reconnect with creativity. It has since grown into my full-time practice, with a focus on contemporary pieces that blend intuitive colour work, layered texture and emotive storytelling.

My current direction includes the Blooming Veil series and larger portrait-style bird pieces. These works use acrylic and mixed media, with oils used in selected projects. The pieces listed here on Bluethumb are earlier works that remain available as unique one-off originals.
