From the youngest age, I remember always feeling a sense of joy when I was creating. It didn’t seem to matter then what the medium was- I just knew it was my happy place. That remains unchanged- I always find that Art is a reallmindful experience for me, it consumes me. If I’m not painting, I’m planning future pieces or watching training videos or reading to improve.
I feel fortunate to be surrounded by numerous beautiful beaches and stunning National Parks, both of which inspire many of my works. I love the abundance of wildlife on my doorstep.
I’m inspired by the beauty all around me, both the beauty of the outdoors, but I am also mindful of the beauty in our mundane, everyday items. These items make a house a home and play a role in our everyday routines- these things inspire my still life work.
I am a wife, artist and homeschooling mum (including pre-Covid) and feel blessed to have my family and studio life intermingled.
I am inspired by, and have a real love for realism in art. I am still learning and loving the journey- please follow me to see how the journey develops!
I love the Masters, and saught our mentors who could teach glazing, alla prima and en plain air techniques. Initially studying English and History to teach, later doing a post-grad psychology degree, before deciding to pursue my dream of painting. I am an artist at heart. I have taken classes in oil painting and drawing at the Waikato School of Arts and am excited to be attending Realism Live for further training and teaching.
All artworks are done with professional quality oil paints.
