Artwork Description

There’s something quietly powerful about a young lion — strength still forming, confidence still growing. In this charcoal portrait, I wanted to capture that in-between stage: innocence layered with instinct, softness edged with future authority.

Unlike my pastel work, my charcoal drawings are more fluid and instinctive. I don’t rely on defined line art; instead, I allow the form to emerge gradually through expressive marks and layered tones. You may notice hints of the initial sketch beneath the finished drawing — a deliberate choice that keeps the piece alive and breathing rather than overly refined.

The monochromatic palette gives the work a calm, grounded presence. Framed in white and floated above the mat board, the rough deckled edges of the Arches HP watercolour paper remain visible, adding texture and authenticity.

This piece would bring quiet strength and softness to a space — subtle yet emotionally engaging, ideal for collectors who appreciate both vulnerability and resilience in wildlife art.

Created in charcoal on archival Arches HP watercolour paper. When framed under glass, charcoal retains its rich tonal depth for generations.

Artist Bio

It begins with slowing down—watching, waiting, noticing. An animal’s posture. A glance that lingers. The stillness just before movement. That’s where my process lives: in patience, observation, and deep respect for the natural world.

When you live with my work, it becomes more than something on a wall. It’s a moment of connection you come back to—something that grounds you, calms you, and quietly reminds you of the wildness and beauty we’re all part of.
