Artwork Description

This painting continues a series exploring emotional states as shifting environments, where interior experience takes on a physical form.

A dark, circular void sits at the centre, surrounded by branching, luminous structures that feel both organic and otherworldly. Above, a glowing orb emerges from a deep, atmospheric field, suggesting a presence that is both distant and connected to the space below.

The composition moves between gravity and lift — the grounded weight of the central pool contrasts with the upward pull of light and energy. Flowing forms guide the eye through the painting, creating a sense of quiet movement and suspended transformation.

Painted in oils on timber panel, the surface is built through layered glazes, giving the work depth, luminosity, and a subtle tactile texture that shifts with changing light. The piece is presented in a stained timber floating frame.

This work can stand alone or be paired with others from the Pools of Sorrow, Waves of Joy series.

Artist Bio

Her work explores symbolic inner landscapes, drawing on elements of mythology, storytelling, and the unknown. Through painting, she creates atmospheric scenes that sit between the real and the surreal, where light, form, and colour suggest moments of transformation and reflection.

Working primarily in oils and mixed media, Kerry builds layered surfaces to create depth, ambiguity, and a sense of quiet intensity. Her paintings invite viewers into a space of contemplation, where familiar forms begin to shift and open into something less certain.

Kerry has exhibited in group exhibitions across Naarm, including Brunswick Street Gallery and Darebin Art Salon. She has also completed the Expanded Practice Program at The Art Room, a mentored professional development program focused on refining artistic direction and building a sustainable practice.
