Artwork Description

We Will Remember Them is an ANZAC-inspired artwork honouring service, sacrifice, remembrance and the next generation who continue to carry that legacy forward.

Set at dawn, four young sailors stand facing the sea, the Australian naval flag and the rising sun. Their backs are turned to the viewer, inviting us to stand quietly beside them in a moment of reflection. The sea represents distance, service, separation and return, while the poppies symbolise sacrifice, respect and remembrance.

This painting also holds a personal connection, with my own son currently serving in the Navy. Through him, and through all young service personnel, I see the responsibility, courage and quiet strength carried by those who serve today.

Inspired by the song We Will Remember Them, performed by Military Wives Choirs, this piece is a tribute to those who came before, those who serve now, and those who will continue to honour the promise of remembrance.

Artist Bio

Kerry Sandhu Art: Inspired Art from the Heart

I'm Kerry Sandhu, a self-taught acrylic and mixed-media artist with a passion for bringing vibrant, heartfelt art to life. Born and raised in Perth, Western Australia, I made a big move to Darwin in January 2020—a change that opened my world to new colours, stories, and inspiration.

My creativity is fuelled by the world around me: nature, spirit, life, music, and lyrics all weave their way into my artistic process. Much like my eclectic taste in music, my style is ever-evolving—bold, expressive, and deeply intuitive.

I create ‘inspired art from the heart,’ spanning a wide range of themes. Each piece captures a moment of emotion, a spark of spirit, or a story waiting to be told. My work celebrates vibrant colour, texture, and the beauty found in life’s smallest details, with each brushstroke reflecting my inner world.

Painting is not just what I do—it’s who I am. Through my art, I aim to touch hearts, inspire minds, ignite passions, and evoke deep emotion.

Every ANZAC Day (since 2016), I paint an original artwork to honour the fallen service men, women and animals, acknowledging their courage, sacrifice, and the ultimate price paid for our freedom.
LEST WE FORGET.

My mantra is simple and true:
“Art is like people, no two are the same.
Each person has their own destiny, and art will always find its destiny too.”
