Artwork Description

This oil painting captures a collection of weathered vessels set against an old, timeworn wall of plaster and brick. I was drawn to the character in the aged surfaces, worn textures and earthy colours, and the way the handmade vessels seem to belong naturally within their surroundings.

The contrast between the cool greens, blues and muted tones of the vessels and the warm terracotta of the exposed brick creates a rich, textured scene. Loose brushwork and layered colour help capture the feeling of age, history and the beauty found in things that have been well used and well loved.

Artist Bio

Nature has always fascinated me, and I have felt a deep connection to it for as long as I can remember. I am particularly inspired by the way light transforms landscapes and seascapes - turning familiar scenes into something fleeting, luminous and almost magical. These ever-changing moments captivate me, and through my work I hope to share that sense of wonder with the viewer.

I am a part-time artist based in the Adelaide Hills, painting from my home studio whenever time allows. My art reflects the profound happiness I feel in the act of creation. Working primarily in oils, I strive to capture nature’s harmony and beauty in realistic scenes that still reveal the artist’s hand - brushstrokes, layered textures, and subtle marks that invite closer inspection.
I am drawn to the richness and versatility of oil paint, often using both brushes and palette knives to build depth and character. While grounded in traditional techniques, I remain curious and open to experimentation, continually exploring new approaches, mediums, and inspirations.

Above all, I hope my paintings offer more than a visual experience — I hope they invite the viewer into a moment of stillness, connection, and joy.
