Artwork Description

This is one in a series of three paintings, a collaboration with amazing photographer #tashmohring who thankfully let me paint her amazing photos. From the first moment I fell in love with the colours, the atmosphere and the composition.

Down by the River invites viewers to Wally’s Landing on the Finniss River, Fleurieu Peninsula. Gentle reeds line the water’s edge, the surface shimmers with contrasts: warm tones of floating plant matter against cool blues and golden reflections. Under a moody, cloud-filled sky, the scene captures the delicate balance between water, land, and time.

Artist Bio

Nature has always fascinated me, and I have felt a deep connection to it for as long as I can remember. I am particularly inspired by the way light transforms landscapes and seascapes - turning familiar scenes into something fleeting, luminous and almost magical. These ever-changing moments captivate me, and through my work I hope to share that sense of wonder with the viewer.

I am a part-time artist based in the Adelaide Hills, painting from my home studio whenever time allows. My art reflects the profound happiness I feel in the act of creation. Working primarily in oils, I strive to capture nature’s harmony and beauty in realistic scenes that still reveal the artist’s hand - brushstrokes, layered textures, and subtle marks that invite closer inspection.
I am drawn to the richness and versatility of oil paint, often using both brushes and palette knives to build depth and character. While grounded in traditional techniques, I remain curious and open to experimentation, continually exploring new approaches, mediums, and inspirations.

Above all, I hope my paintings offer more than a visual experience — I hope they invite the viewer into a moment of stillness, connection, and joy.
