Artwork Description

In The Space Between, from a photo taken in Chiang Mai a couple of years ago, birdcages hang like lanterns from a leafy canopy outside a restaurant, suspended between nature and human craft. Paper birds and flowers float delicately amongst the cages, suggesting freedom, beauty, and tradition. The angled view lifts the gaze skyward, where light filters through the branches and cages in a delicate interplay of shadow and form. This painting celebrates not only the visual charm of northern Thailand, but the spaces in between—the sky, the silence, the possibilities and wonders.

Artist Bio

Nature has always fascinated me, and I have felt a deep connection to it for as long as I can remember. I am particularly inspired by the way light transforms landscapes and seascapes - turning familiar scenes into something fleeting, luminous and almost magical. These ever-changing moments captivate me, and through my work I hope to share that sense of wonder with the viewer.

I am a part-time artist based in the Adelaide Hills, painting from my home studio whenever time allows. My art reflects the profound happiness I feel in the act of creation. Working primarily in oils, I strive to capture nature’s harmony and beauty in realistic scenes that still reveal the artist’s hand - brushstrokes, layered textures, and subtle marks that invite closer inspection.
I am drawn to the richness and versatility of oil paint, often using both brushes and palette knives to build depth and character. While grounded in traditional techniques, I remain curious and open to experimentation, continually exploring new approaches, mediums, and inspirations.

Above all, I hope my paintings offer more than a visual experience — I hope they invite the viewer into a moment of stillness, connection, and joy.
