Watercolour on paper
Signed on the front.
This painting of poppies was one of a pair painted during a stay in the south of England, and was intended to pay homage to all the fallen soldiers for the sacrifice that they made. The English summer light plays on the glossy petals which have an almost tissue paper quality. The background is deliberately abstracted to focus on the main flower heads which are supported by the drooping, spiky bud. On completion of the sale of this painting, $100 will be donated to the RSL with the receipt posted on my instagram account kevanrigbyart.
