Artwork Description

Stunning Sydney Harbour glowing in the afternoon sunshine. I have been in love with Sydney Harbour for as long as I can remember. The iconic Opera House sails and the incredible architecture of Sydney Harbour Bridge side by side is an incredible sight. Growing up in Sydney I fondly remember Ken Done’s clever but simple use of the Opera House sails in his works.

I wanted to create something that was unique to me and set about starting with a pastel pink sky and an aqua harbour. I then started adding things that mean something to my childhood. I’ve painted a number of these harbour images and every time I add different personal touches. In this artwork you’ll find lots of fine details that will keep the eye busy exploring the foreground. An AFL ball, music notes, a keyboard, turtle, thongs, jellyfish, koala, beach towel, The Glenmore Hotel, a guitar, ice cream, the harbour tunnel, wine, a Lego man, a cricket scene and a hot air balloon.

I love using pastels to create landscapes and this scene of water and sky along with two iconic landmarks compliment one another perfectly. Please note that the artwork is framed in timber. The total size is 52cm x 42cm and the frame depth is approximately 5cm.

Artist Bio

Portraiture artist who recently rediscovered the love of the paint brush.

I grew up in Sydney in a family of creative minds - musical and artistic. I found a passion for both in my teens and couldn’t image a day without drawing portraits or playing instruments. I completed 3 Unit Art for my HSC with my major artwork receiving a score of 49/50.

But as study and a serious career took over my time, my art took a backseat position. I continued to sketch on commissions and then finally found the confidence to pick up the paint brush again and I haven’t looked back.

I’m intrigued by detail (both simple and complex) in faces and by the way colours can compliment one another.

I’m absolutely loving using vibrant colours again after many years of black and white sketches.
