Artwork Description

As a native Auslan user, my hands were my first instrument of expression. Now, they guide me in creating art that reflects the profound beauty I see in the world around me. After years of palliative care work and nurturing others within my community, art has become a personal sanctuary. My artistic expression is deeply rooted in the raw beauty of nature. I gather elements like sheep's wool, yarn, found gum branches, leaf litter, paper twine, wire, and fabrics, weaving them into intricate stories of life’s twists and turns. Each piece is an exploration, textured with both the delicate and the rugged, the gentle and the strong.
At the setting of the sun, my soul shines.

Artist Bio

As a native Auslan user, my hands were my first instrument of expression. Now, they guide me in creating art that reflects the profound beauty I see in the world around me. Though in my youth I wasn’t captivated by art, I now find myself, later in life, discovering a creative spirit. Immersing myself in the vibrant world of art, I am making up for lost time, finding both boundless joy and occasional heartache in this new chapter of my life.

Eltham has been home for over 45 years. Its artistic character and timeless landscapes feel like a natural embrace, inspiring my creative journey. Nestled in my mud brick house, I draw inspiration from the rustic charm of the shire, reflecting the serene beauty that surrounds us. Each creation I bring to life is not just a work of art but an intimate dialogue between nature and the soul, inviting others to find their own meaning within it.
My debut exhibition at SOL Gallery was a success, where I was fortunate enough to sell two of my pieces, a deeply rewarding milestone in my artistic journey.
