There are moments when a city stops being a collection of buildings and becomes something else entirely — energy, movement and light.
This image was created during one of those moments.

Travelling aboard a Brisbane River City Cat at night, I watched the city slowly unfold around me. The river was dark, the skyline illuminated, and every movement of the vessel transformed the lights of Brisbane into sweeping fragments of colour.

Rather than trying to freeze the city perfectly, I allowed the movement to become part of the photograph. Buildings began to dissolve. Street lights stretched into glowing lines. Reflections fractured across the Brisbane River, and familiar architecture became almost unrecognisable.

What remained was the Pulse of the City.
