Artwork Description

Layers of sponge, cream and jam sitting proudly on a plate. The picnic cloth, the soft blue background, and that slightly messy last bit of cake of all add to the feeling of something homemade, nostalgic and joyful. Its a kind of moment that feels familiar - a picnic set for slow afternoons and good company.

Artist Bio

Kim Hawks is a self-taught contemporary artist whose work explores femininity, identity, and natural forms. With a background in graphic design, Kim brings a refined sense of composition, colour, and visual balance to her paintings, while allowing intuition and emotion to guide the final expression.

Drawing on years of creative problem-solving in design, Kim approaches painting as both structure and release. The discipline of design provides a foundation, while the act of painting becomes a space for freedom, storytelling, and personal exploration.
