Shimmer

I called this painting Shimmer as this beautiful Abalone shell does shimmer with mother-of-pearl. I loved the challenge of creating the look using the many colours of this amazing shell. For anyone, like me, who loves the ocean it will bring a little bit of it to your room.

From a young age I have always loved to be creative and draw, art being my favourite subject at school.
My grandmother and great grandfather were artists although not professional.
Like them, I am a self taught artist with no formal training, however art is definitely in the genes.
As a teenager and for years after I painted with oils then as the years went by I moved to acrylics.
Now, watercolours are my passion, loving the beautiful transparent quality of the medium and the intricate detail and realism that is achieved.
Animals, birds, flowers, still life's and landscapes are my current subject range, with hyper-realism being an ongoing goal of mine.
I am always continuing to learn new skills with this challenging medium.
