Artwork Description

Incorporating soft, textured papers, this artwork draws inspiration from the handmade quilts lovingly created by generations of women. Like the knitted squares and fabric remnants once stitched together to form treasured family heirlooms, each element speaks to connection, care, and the passing of stories through time. This piece is a tribute to the often-unseen creative labour of women and the beauty found in everyday acts of making. Featuring a gentle palette of pinks, blues, and greens, it brings a sense of warmth, calm, and quiet nostalgia to a bedroom, living room, or any space designed for reflection and comfort.

Artist Bio

Kim Price is a Brisbane based artist with a practice focusing on collage and abstract acrylic works. Beginning her creative journey more than ten years ago, Kim’s early work centered on drawing and pastel landscapes. Initial courses in drawing gave Kim the fundamentals of her artistic practice which led to exhibiting her work in local galleries and exhibitions. Following experimentation and courses in acrylic and collage, Kim began working with collage as her main artistic medium - the beginning of her love for ripping, cutting and pasting.

In 2023, Kim left her full time corporate career to work full time as an artist. The following year Kim held her first solo exhibition at the Land Street Gallery Brisbane. As part of this exhibition Kim facilitated a collage workshop and held an artist talk discussing her body of work. In 2024 Kim collaborated with three other Brisbane-based collage artists to hold the group show Collage Encounters: Our World in Layers. Kim regularly exhibits her work within Australia and continues to expand her knowledge and understanding of collage and her artistic practice.
