Artwork Description

This artwork is part of a series that continues to explore the theme of our collective inner landscapes where I'm painting the emotions, desires, and longings of my internal environments, following impulses with paint and pastel, where the final outcome (to me) echoes a living forest of coral.

It's a dynamic and uplifting piece that has a lovely positive energy and will definitely give you something new to discover every time it's viewed.

in terms of my process I never start a painting with a plan and I love to see where the painting heads. I only ever know the next move to make, painting each mark as it feels right, then stepping back and contemplating the next mark. There's always a messy, ugly, 'where is this going?' stage in the middle and I love moving from that into the end result where everything is working together and the tension of that unbalanced stage is resolved.

Artist Bio

Kim is an artist based in Ocean Shores who has a lot of fun painting colourful abstract landscapes. Kim is your go to artist if you’re looking for interesting and emotive work that you’ll never tire of looking at. Working primarily with oil paint, she builds her paintings through layers of bold messy brushstrokes, fine pastel lines and contrasting textures. Her process is deeply intuitive, embracing spontaneity and trust to create expressive, energetic works. Kim was a textile designer for 15 years in her own product business where she would hand paint elements that became her signature Autralian flora designs. After selling her business in 2022 she has embraced her path now as a full time emerging abstract painter.
