Artist Bio

I was born in Townsville & spent a lot of my childhood travelling to Winton to stay with my grandparents. As a child, a lot of my journeys were spent fishing on the riverbanks, camping- travelling to the shearing sheds & attending the local school. I travelled with my grandparents and mother to Mount Isa, Townsville & visited the places they grew up to connect with my elders. My grandfather was a proud Kamilaroi man & mother is a proud Kamilaroi woman. My mother taught me to paint when I was very young to show me how to learn about my heritage & give back to my culture. We painted together on country and as I grew older & moved away for school, I continued to paint and grow as an artist. Each one of my artworks consumes me till it is completed. It allows me to connect to my elders & embrace my cultural heritage. There is nothing that brings me more joy than knowing that my paintings lives on in your hands. A painting style that I have spent over 20 years trying to perfect and grow.
It makes me so proud when my daughter asks where each artwork is off to and I get to tell her that part of us, is off to a new home. I get to tell her the stories through my artwork and that that someone saw something in that story that they loved. Above all, it shows her that the times I spend sitting at the table painting instead of playing with her means something more for our future. Each artwork I create lays that legacy to give her the best possible future. And when the time comes when I no longer psychically walk beside her, it gives her something to be proud of and to learn from.
