Artwork Description

Oil on wood, ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

This painting is part of a small and ongoing series of nocturnal architectural observations of heritage buildings in the port city of Albany WA. While the utilisation of the buildings may be changeable, I aim to capture a sense of the building's presence and enduring architectural character together with a sense of place through suggestions of weather and landscape. Having lived and occupied many an old building, I have come to love the sense of history imbued in them. I particularly love the effects of modern lighting on architectural forms and the design aspect lighting creates in the composition of these paintings.
