Artwork Description

This richly textured acrylic artwork combines deep, layered blues with luminous gold tones, creating a striking yet serene composition. Built with heavy body gel, the surface has a sculptural quality that adds depth and movement, while a flowing band of gold draws the eye. Delicate, blossom-like forms along this line soften the piece and bring a sense of quiet balance.

Inspired by the Japanese tradition of Kintsugi—the art of finding beauty in imperfection—the golden elements symbolize resilience, renewal, and strength. The contrast between dark and light gives the work both visual impact and emotional depth.

Finished with two coats of varnish for archival protection and long-lasting quality, this piece is ready to hang and does not require framing. Elegant and contemporary, it brings warmth and sophistication to any space, offering a timeless sense of calm and meaning.

Artist Bio

My name is Kate, and I’m an artist living and working in Ballarat, Victoria.

I create original artworks inspired by memories, lived experiences, nature, and meaningful moments. My style draws influence from Impressionism, contemporary art, and abstraction, resulting in pieces that feel expressive, personal, and full of atmosphere. I work with oil paint, acrylic, graphite, and soft pastels, choosing the medium that best suits each idea.

I also love creating animals in unique and unexpected settings, bringing charm, personality, and storytelling into my work. Whether capturing a fleeting expression or placing a familiar creature in an imaginative scene, I aim to create artworks that spark emotion, curiosity, and connection.

In 2026, I was honoured to receive a Highly Commended Award at the Pyrenees Art Show. I have also exhibited my work at Art Trax Gallery in Beaufort, sharing my art with the local community and connecting with fellow artists and collectors.

For me, art is about connection—creating something honest that resonates with the viewer and adds beauty, feeling, or curiosity to a space. I believe creativity should be free, intuitive, and deeply personal, allowing each piece to evolve naturally and tell its own story.

When I’m not creating, I enjoy reading, spending time outdoors, and quiet moments with my family—experiences that continue to inspire my work and influence the subjects I choose to explore.

Thank you for taking the time to explore and support my art. I hope my work brings a sense of joy, wonder, or reflection into your home.
