update:
This is my NEW Solace and Submerge collection. After taking a break from paining, I have found new inspiration in the solace that painting provides for me. My new works are calming yet vibrant, and created from an imagined natural setting. Welcome to my artistic world and I hope it brings you joy and balance.
Bio:
I moved to Australia over a decade ago from Chicago and ever since then the natural beauty, colours and experiences of this country have inspired me to pick up my paint brush and lay down my interpretation of these elements.
My style is abstract but contains representations of landscapes, sunsets, beaches and nature. I’ve been told I’m an emotional painter - which is true - but once the painting is completed it takes on a life, beauty and story of its own and is open to a personal interpretation from the viewer. I endeavour to keep a mindful approach to my painting – that the creative process is as important as the finished work.
I love to paint with acrylics and overlay it with charcoal, oil pastels and sometimes some textured medium like glass beads or sand. Usually painting on canvas, I have also been known to experiment with natural objects like palm fronds, sticks and bark.
Growing up in Rochester, New York and attending the University of Rochester where I received my bachelor’s degree in Art History, I was lucky enough to spend some time in New York City where I interned at an art gallery in the East Village. During this time, I studied contemporary art and was exposed to many different artists and their NY studios. This was a huge influence on my passion for creativity, art and artists.
I currently work in Sydney in the Telecommunications sector and I’m pleased to say that a couple of my works are featured in the office!
To get the creative juices flowing, I like to connect with people and be encouraged by their stories and energy. Sometimes images just pop into my head and it’s a mission for me to get them onto the canvas before the next one comes.
So, have a look and enjoy….
