Karen Brooks is a Northern Beaches abstract artist specialising in residential and commercial commissioned abstracts.
Welcome to her Blue Thumb page. You can also find Karen on instagram @kjbrooksart.
Karen’s passion for abstract art started early as she came first in art in her first year of high school with a creative abstract painting. Karen left her long teaching career to begin life as an artist ten years ago.
Seascapes, landscapes and desert landscapes inspire her to create non -representational paintings with vibrate colour. texture and balanced compositions.
Karen is also a colourist. Her technique is expressive and painterly. She uses paint mediums that enable acrylic to act and look like oils.
She learnt to paint from many of Sydney's established exhibiting artists and teachers.
Karen has visited most of the major galleries of the world and attended Art Basel to enrich her art education. She has completed a mixed media painting workshop in Berlin.
Karen has been a member of Long Reef Art Society, Manly Art Collab and currently a member of Freshwater Gallery plus Lane Cove Art Society.
Karen has been included in group exhibitions for eight years in The Northern Beaches of Sydney and the inner city.
Her paintings have been purchased for many modern homes in Sydney and the country via group shows and instagram. She’s grateful now to be included as a Blue Artist and welcomes commissions and sales via Blue Thumb.
Working with clients to fulfil specific measurements and colour requirements to compliment new residential and commercial spaces is very inspiring to Karen.
