Artwork Description

"Spring Hill" embodies a profound chapter of my life's journey, inspired by the transformative experience of relocating to a new place – a place where newfound freedoms and exhilarating sensations enveloped my being. As an empty nester, I embarked on a liberating exploration of city life, strolling through the vibrant streets with a renewed sense of self. The artwork encapsulates the essence of this liberation, depicting a girl basking in the urban energy, her presence elevated by the allure of the poolside setting.

This piece is a celebration of newfound autonomy and self-expression, symbolized by the girl's uninhibited demeanor and carefree disposition. With the freedom to embrace her authentic self, she revels in the joy of living unencumbered by societal expectations, symbolized by her ability to drink straight from the bottle and the confident display of her bare feet. Her ample flesh embodies body positivity, serving as a powerful testament to self-acceptance and empowerment.

Crafted from acrylic on stretched canvas, "Spring Hill" radiates with vibrant hues and dynamic brushstrokes, capturing the vivacity of urban life and the spirit of newfound freedom. Its presence in any space is bound to uplift the room, infusing it with a palpable sense of energy, liberation, and possibility. As viewers engage with the artwork, they are invited to embark on their own journey of self-discovery and embrace the beauty of living authentically, making "Spring Hill" a captivating addition to any art collector's repertoire.

Artist Bio

Krissy Jenkins is a Brisbane-based Artist who works predominantly in Acrylic but loves experimentation of materials, in her mediums and supports. Krissy, is currently a student at Queensland College of Art working on her Bachelor of Fine Arts, while creating Art at her Spring Hill loft.

While Krissy has always been creative, it wasn’t until she was introduced to Art therapy for a long-term battle with mental health that she found her passion for drawing and painting. It was in Art that she found a reprieve and what will be a life-long passion.

Krissy is focussed in the details of the life that surrounds her and in particular the World as she would have it, not necessarily as it actually is. A world filled with vibrant and neon colours, patterns and happiness.

She expresses her Art with intense backgrounds, symbols of life and love and resemblances of the people she paints. Krissy herself is often the subject of her own artworks.

She is also interested in drawing, oil paints, collage, glass and metal, creative journaling and black and white photography.
