Artwork Description

'Milk?' is an original painting maximising the hue of blue and perfect as a conversation starter.

Do you take your tea with milk? Have you ever had a chat over a cuppa? Drinking tea is a great conversation starter. It crosses all cultures and class structures.
This artwork work was a creation from the ‘How do you take it?’ collection. It partners beautifully with matching artwork ‘Milk?’
Composition is constructed from abstracted still life. Artwork is a combination of acrylic paint and charcoal line painted on stretched canvas that is gallery wrapped.

Style is ‘Fragmatism’. Invented by Kristine Ballard as a device to explore the merging of shape and space. A style where beauty is often camouflaged. Deconstructed shape and reconstructed colour drive Ballard’s development in this style.

Artist Bio

Kristine Ballard is a Sydney-based artist specialising in expressive paint and sumptuous colour. Ballard uses her unique painting style called ‘Fragmatism’, to rebuild a world where you can reclaim the colour back into your own life.

Ballard draws her inspiration from everday subjects and locations. With a focus on still life, interiors, and landscapes she transforms her encounters into joyful compositions that glow from within. Themes of tenacity and splendour within the natural environment and on the human condition play an important role in the selection of her subject matter. Her dynamic paintings also explore subjects of the ‘everyday’ and the often-overlooked. Her palettes focus on the effects of optical colour and the empowering results colour can have on our well being.

With an impressive portfolio that spans international exhibitions, artist residencies, and commercial collaborations, Ballard’s work is a positive force demonstrating her significant contribution to the contemporary art scene.
