KEEPING IT 'BRIGHT BEYOND BEIGE'
Kristine Ballard’s work is driven by colour. As an Australian contemporary painter her artworks celebrate the beauty and wonder of the natural world. The results are expressive landscape and still life paintings created in her unique style called ‘Fragmatism’. Here images are fragmented, they merge, melt and dance into each other. Perspective takes many twist and turns. Elements float throughout the multilayered compositions.
Her dedication to colour radiates in every artwork. Ballard has been chasing colour around the globe, exhibiting her art nationally and internationally. She has completed art residencies and been awarded art scholarships at the world renowned Art Students League of New York and also in Venice, Italy. In Australia, residencies completed include time at Monsalvat (Australia’s oldest art colony) and at Mornington’s historic Police Point Residency. She has an upcoming residency in the south of France in 2023. She has been a finalist in many prestigious art shows throughout her art career including Fishers’ Ghost Art Prize, Gosford Art Prize, Heysen Landscape Art Prize and Georges River Art Prize.
Ballard believes life is better lived ‘bright beyond beige’. The canvas is her stage. Colour is her symphony. Her artworks are designed to lift your spirits and allow you to wonder. Each piece is a reminder that all of us deserve a colourful life and that the world is a truly magical place to be.
