Artwork Description

“Forbidden Land” is an abstract artwork that evokes quiet mystery and subtle discovery. The composition is built upon a palette of soft, muted whites and warm earth toned browns, blending seamlessly into one another like mist drifting across an ancient terrain. The colours feel weathered and timeworn, as though shaped by wind and memory.

Beneath the surface, gentle organic forms begin to emerge, suggestions of hidden landforms rising from behind translucent veils of paint. These underlying shapes are not sharply defined, instead, they hover between presence and absence, inviting the viewer to look longer and search deeper. Their softened edges create a sense of depth without clear boundaries, as if the landscape exists in a dreamlike state.

Textural scratching cuts across portions of the canvas, adding tactile contrast to the otherwise smooth and airy atmosphere. These etched marks feel deliberate yet restrained, like traces of erosion or coded markings left behind. They catch the light differently, giving the surface a layered, almost archaeological quality.

A small ladder appears within the composition, delicately integrated into the landforms. It acts as both a visual anchor and a symbolic bridge, suggesting access, ascent, or perhaps a path into the concealed spaces beyond. The ladder’s modest scale emphasizes the vastness and quiet power of the surrounding forms, reinforcing the sense of a land that is both inviting and unreachable.

“Forbidden Land” conveys stillness, quiet tension, and the allure of hidden worlds just beneath the surface.
The detailed technique used to create this artwork produces a soft textural element which adds depth and intricate details.
My heart and soul goes into every artwork, it is my passion to bring colour and emotion into the canvas and hope to bring much joy into your surroundings.
The photos although I do my best to capture the true beauty of the artwork, they look more vibrant and stunning in person.
The sides are fully covered which makes framing optional.

Artist Bio

Kristine Jambor is an abstract artist whose work celebrates the vibrancy and emotional resonance of colour. Deeply influenced by the lush landscapes of the Northern Rivers, her paintings capture the shifting moods, rhythms, and atmospheres of place through expressive, layered compositions.

Drawing inspiration from the great Expressionist artists, Kristine approaches abstraction as a language of feeling, using colour, mark-making, and texture to evoke the sensory experience of nature rather than its literal form. Each piece becomes a dialogue between the external landscape and the artist’s inner world, translating light, movement, and emotion into visual energy.

Kristine’s practice is a continual exploration of colour’s power to communicate beyond words. Her work represents a vibrant meditation on the beauty and vitality of the Northern Rivers environment.
