Artwork Description

“Fragmented Growth” presents an abstracted view of the garden through proximity and partial observation. Rather than depicting plants as unified forms, the painting isolates fragments of colour and texture, suggesting leaves, soil, and petals without resolving them into a coherent whole. This close perspective emphasises perception over representation.

A palette of layered greens is grounded by neutral light browns, evoking earth and organic matter, while soft pink and violet highlights appear intermittently, introducing moments of delicacy and chromatic contrast. These accents function as interruptions within the field, directing attention to the subtle shifts and rhythms of natural growth.

The work proposes growth as a non linear process, accumulative, uneven, and contingent. By fragmenting the visual field, the painting reflects the way attention moves through a garden, pausing, drifting, and reassembling meaning from incomplete views. Growth is understood not as a singular event, but as a series of quiet, ongoing transitions.

Artist Bio

Kristine Jambor is an abstract artist whose work celebrates the vibrancy and emotional resonance of colour. Deeply influenced by the lush landscapes of the Northern Rivers, her paintings capture the shifting moods, rhythms, and atmospheres of place through expressive, layered compositions.

Drawing inspiration from the great Expressionist artists, Kristine approaches abstraction as a language of feeling, using colour, mark-making, and texture to evoke the sensory experience of nature rather than its literal form. Each piece becomes a dialogue between the external landscape and the artist’s inner world, translating light, movement, and emotion into visual energy.

Kristine’s practice is a continual exploration of colour’s power to communicate beyond words. Her work represents a vibrant meditation on the beauty and vitality of the Northern Rivers environment.
