Artwork Description

In “Gathering Light”, the surface becomes a threshold between concealment and revelation. A luminous veil of white dominates the composition, simultaneously masking and revealing the layers beneath. Through irregular fissures and spontaneous openings, the underlying landscape of colour emerges, deep browns, rich red ochres, and restrained passages of neon pink, offering fleeting glimpses of what lies beyond immediate perception.

The painting explores the tension between presence and absence, inviting a sustained act of looking. The white is not merely a covering but an active field that diffuses light, creating a sense of quiet luminosity while allowing fragments of the hidden composition to surface. These moments of disclosure suggest that meaning is not presented in full but gradually uncovered through attention and contemplation.

Balancing earthy, elemental tones with unexpected contemporary colour, “Gathering Light” reflects on processes of emergence, memory, and transformation. The work proposes that illumination is rarely absolute, rather it is gathered incrementally through layers of experience, where what remains concealed is as significant as what is ultimately revealed.
This artwork is an original painting, I use artist grade acrylic paints, and high quality archival satin varnish to produce a beautiful subtle sheen and provide UV protection.
Each artwork has a hanging wire fitted.
The detailed technique used to create this artwork produces a soft textural element which adds depth and intricate details.
My heart and soul goes into every artwork, it is my passion to bring colour and emotion into the canvas and hope to bring much joy into your surroundings.

Kristine Jambor is an abstract artist whose work celebrates the vibrancy and emotional resonance of colour. Deeply influenced by the lush landscapes of the Northern Rivers, her paintings capture the shifting moods, rhythms, and atmospheres of place through expressive, layered compositions.

Drawing inspiration from the great Expressionist artists, Kristine approaches abstraction as a language of feeling, using colour, mark-making, and texture to evoke the sensory experience of nature rather than its literal form. Each piece becomes a dialogue between the external landscape and the artist’s inner world, translating light, movement, and emotion into visual energy.

Kristine’s practice is a continual exploration of colour’s power to communicate beyond words. Her work represents a vibrant meditation on the beauty and vitality of the Northern Rivers environment.
