Artwork Description

Welcome to the whimsical world of Julie, where magpies don ruffled collars and pose like 17th-century aristocrats! Julie’s work is a delightful fusion of classical elegance and quirky humour, capturing the charm of a magpie who firmly believes he belongs in a Rembrandt masterpiece—except with a fabulous pink backdrop.

Julie’s paintings are a playful dance between the old and the new, blending the intricate details of Baroque portraits with the unexpected twist of a feathered friend who’s convinced he’s a Cavalier. With each brushstroke, she brings to life this fanciful character, inviting viewers to smile, chuckle, and perhaps see a bit of themselves in this pretty, pretentious magpie.

Drawing inspiration from the audacity and grace of these clever birds, Julie’s art evokes a sense of light-hearted joy and gentle satire. She encourages us to embrace our own contradictions—our inner magpies who think we’re all royals at heart. So come, step into a world where feathers meet finery, and let your imagination take flight on wings of humour and history.

Artist Bio

I'm Julie, an artist living in beautiful Hervey Bay. My art journey is all about capturing the essence of everyday moments and the wonders of nature that surround us. I find inspiration in the little things – from the way sunlight filters through leaves to the calming rhythm of the ocean waves.

Every painting I create is a piece of my soul and heart laid bare. I don’t plan too much; I just paint what moves me on that particular day. It’s a very personal process, and I paint primarily for myself, but knowing that my work has found homes around the world is a feeling like no other.

I love that my pieces resonate with others and bring a touch of Hervey Bay’s beauty and my own perspective into their lives. So, welcome to my world – I hope you find a bit of your own story in my art.
