Krystal is a local contemporary artist with a focus on abstract paintings. She completed a Bachelor of Visual Art, Fine Arts (Excellence) and then obtained her a post graduate Bachelor of Secondary Education qualification to become a visual art teacher. Early in her career, Krystal was selected to showcase her work in various emerging artists exhibitions and gallery spaces throughout Brisbane, in which kick started her contemporary sculpture and textile practice. Whilst sculpture has always been a passion, traditional foundations of drawing and painting have remained the root of her practice. In more recent years, whilst juggling a family, commissions and full time art teaching career, Krystal has recently reignited her love for painting and drawing, jumping back into mixed media, painting and colour exploration harking back in her early years at Art College. Her recent abstract work seeks to navigate the relationships of colour, texture and surface, all mapping memories and her surrounding landscapes. Moving forward, Krystal seeks to evolve these aesthetic curiosities and cultivate a visual, enticing experience for her audience.
