Eternal rythm of recreation

This painting reflects on the essence of femininity and its associations throughout history( How I see it). It features a collective image of goddesses adorned with cow horns, which emerged as humanity began to cultivate the land and recognize the cycles of the moon and soil fertility. The cow horns symbolize not only the crescent moon but also the nurturing qualities of the animal that provides warmth (through its hide) and sustenance (through milk and meat).

In this work, I aimed to showcase the primordial meanings that ancient cultures, from Mesopotamia to India, attributed to the feminine figure. Through these representations of female deities, I explore the deep connections between women and the natural world, highlighting their roles as life-givers and caretakers throughout history.

Ksenia Kirkbride is an artist whose work is rooted in a rich tradition of craftsmanship and art. From an early age, she showed interest in creating things by hand: sculpting, woodworking, pyrography, embroidery, and knitting. In Ksenia's family, art was an integral part of life; her father was passionate about metalworking and had expertise in etching, while her grandmother enjoyed painting portraits. These traditions inspired young Ksenia, who began her career as a doll artist at the age of 13 in the theater of Kazan, where she spent her childhood and youth.

Ksenia was also fascinated by art theory—the history of art has always held a special place in her heart. Moving to Australia became a impetus for more intense self-expression through painting. Here, she found new horizons for her creativity, blending her skills and knowledge with the local culture. Inspired by her family heritage and love for art, Ksenia continues to develop her style, creating works that reflect her deep connection to both tradition and modernity.
