Artist Bio

Kubi Vasak is a Sydney-based artist and designer whose practice is defined by his ongoing and intuitive experimentation with various mediums. Whether using paper, paint, graphic design or mixed media, Kubi’s contemporary aesthetic remains consistent across all forms.

Starting his career in Music PR and management, Kubi found his true calling in graphic design and art, an area he has pursued for over 12 years. As the founder and director of the Sydney Collage Society (SCS), established in 2015, Kubi is committed to pushing the boundaries of contemporary collage and drawing focus upon Sydney's creative community.

Kubi has exhibited across Australia as well as internationally, in the United States, the United Kingdom and Spain. Some career highlights to date include a debut sell-out solo show in 2015 at Blank Space Gallery in Surry Hills, Sydney, having been selected to exhibit in over 20 group exhibitions since 2013 and the Sydney Collage Society’s group exhibition at the Regional Art Gallery of NSW in Armidale, 2021. His work is held in private collections across Australia, the UK, Spain, and the USA.

Exhibiting alongside fellow artists including Felipe Pantone, Lillian O'Neil, Richard Vergez and Lizzie Gill as well as collaborating on projects with Universal Music, Sony, BMG, The Voice, Sydney Design Festival, and Vivid Sydney. His work has been featured in multiple publications, both in print and online. These include Harper's Bazaar, InStyle Magazine, Jane Magazine, and The Age.

Alongside his own practice, Kubi began teaching analogue collage in 2016, leading workshops at the Art Gallery of NSW (AGNSW), The Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (MAAS) and Sydney Living Museums (SLM) as well for community-based organisations. In 2018 he developed a comprehensive collage course which is now an integral part of UNSW's Bachelor of Design curriculum for 4th-year students.
