Artwork Description

This artwork is a vibrant celebration of tropical abundance, inspired by the graceful form and cultural significance of the banana tree. The central tree, bearing ripe fruit and a blooming flower, stands as a symbol of nourishment and resilience. Its leaves, rendered in expressive strokes of green, with hints of purple, reds and ochre, reflect a stylised interpretation rooted in Sri Lankan visual traditions, where nature is often depicted with rhythmic texture and symbolic colour.

Artist Bio

Trained as an architect and driven by a deep curiosity for the everyday, I am a self-taught artist who finds magic in the mundane. And tells stories with colours.

My creative process begins with what most people overlook. Abandoned buildings, colours in a laundry line, faces found on the clouds, stories of the past, forgotten objects, and transforming them into whimsical narratives infused with fantasy and fiction. Each piece is a quiet rebellion against realism, inviting viewers to see the world not just as it is, but as it could be.

My architectural training shapes the way I compose space, structure, and detail, while my artistic practice allows me to break those rules with playful freedom. Whether through pastel, watercolour, acrylic or ink, I aim to blur the boundaries between observation and imagination, offering a glimpse into a world where the ordinary becomes extraordinary.
