Artwork Description

This piece responds to blue or black light and represents the duality of modern gay life—what is presented in the day (natural light) is often far different from the story revealed at night under the cover of night (blue light).

A process piece, it was painted with three sets of buttocks (nude male modes) covered in acrylic paint and asked to sit on the canvass. No guidance was given. Painters tape was removed after the process was complete.

Artist Bio

Kyle Philip Cox (KP Cox) is a multifaceted artist hailing from the heart of the Midwest United States, where he cultivated his passion for poetry, painting, and experimental mixed-media art. Since relocating to Sydney, Australia in 2012, Cox has been deeply influenced by the vibrant cultural landscape and diverse artistic expressions of his adopted home.

With over two decades of experience, Cox's artistic journey has been as eclectic as his creations. Initially, he embarked on a path of activism, traversing the globe to engage in progressive political campaigns, an endeavor that exposed him to a kaleidoscope of human experiences and perspectives. These encounters, alongside his voracious appetite for literature, philosophy, and popular culture, have become the cornerstone of his artistic vision.

Cox's work transcends traditional boundaries, seamlessly blending elements of poetry, painting, and mixed media into captivating compositions that invite viewers on a journey of introspection and discovery. Each piece is a testament to his innate ability to distill complex emotions and societal narratives into tangible expressions of art.

His art serves as a mirror to the human condition, inviting audiences to explore the depths of their own consciousness and forge connections with the world around them.
