Artwork Description

The Country Below by Kylie Daniel

The Country Below was inspired by those moments spent looking out across the Australian landscape and taking in its immense scale. Layers of texture and earth tones create a sense of depth and distance, revealing hints of weathered terrain, ancient geology and vast open country.

For me, this piece feels like standing at the edge of a gorge or canyon and looking down into the landscape below. Some areas appear solid and defined, while others dissolve into atmosphere, much like the land itself when viewed from a distance.

Rich in texture and subtle detail, The Country Below invites the viewer to slow down, explore the surface and discover their own connection to the landscape. It is a work that speaks of place, time and the quiet beauty found within Australia's rugged terrain.
