Artist Bio
Kylie Nichols is a Sculptor and Installation artist. Nichols' art practice explores everyday objects, both natural and manufactured, drawing on science and the human condition.
In Nichols latest ceramic works, she pares back the colours of the object to soften the focus. Playing with the perceptual construct is an attempt to influence the way the viewer perceives the object.
Fascinated by the dichotomy of liquid to solid states, casting and mould making are often employed. Material investigation and process are both crucial components in the development of her work.
Nichols has a Bachelor of Visual Arts and Design and was a residency recipient at the Pottery Workshop in Jingdezhen, China (Helpmann Academy) in 2019. Shortlisted Unley Art Prize 2021. Based in Adelaide, South Australia, her work is held in numerous private collections.
