Artwork Description

Mount Yasur volcano on Tanna Island, Vanuatu.

The volcano has been erupting continuously for several hundred years and visitors to the volcano are close enough to witness the thunderous gurgling from this giant's belly and observe the blasts of pumice spewing high into the sky.

This painting is inspired by the colours, sights and the physical sensation of this spectacular tourist attraction.

76 cm x 76 cm . Artist grade acrylic paints and mixed media stretched on fine quality cotton canvas.
Low sheen finish. The sides are painted as a continuous subject. Ready to hang.

Artist Bio

I have been making art in one form or another for most of my life. I have a small garden studio in South-East Queensland, Australia.

My paintings are intuitive and I have no set plan other than an idea of a colour palette. More often than not, I will start with a scribble and some mark making and see where this takes me. Somewhere along the way and after many, many layers of paint, the work shows itself in a rather unexpected way.

My aim for my artwork is to create something bright, cheerful and energetic. I work with acrylics and mixed media on paper, canvas and board and I am drawn to old and weathered surfaces and places with a sense of history and fascination. Many of my paintings are inspired by my travels and lived experiences.
