Artwork Description

The gentle sparkles of out of focus light (BOKEH) are represented by circles of pearlescent transparent paint, as the roses form a natural bouquet. The bokeh are interference colours that disappear and appear as you walk past as the light is only reflected at certain angles.

It was painted on a heavy duty stretcher bar that is 68mm high and this gives the piece a lot of presence, although it is deeper than the largest float frame so this is not an option for this piece. It just needs to put back on a stretcher and its ready to hang

Artist Bio

For the past 10 years, Sue’s life has been full of art, from her day-to-day business in her picture framing and art supplies business to hosting art workshops teaching others and the remainder of her time she can be found planning, preparing, and painting her own works of art. Now retired, Sue has more time to paint in acrylics, watercolours and mixed media to create original artworks both in realistic and abstract styles. She has a strong focus on quality so you can be certain that all materials used in her artwork are of professional standard

An early interest in macro photography surfaces in a number of Sue’s artworks, which reflect the unique textures and the subtle sheens found in nature, in plants, animals, and the environment. Sue loves to garden so many pieces reflect floral and botanical themes. It is a challenge to capture the subtle highlights on the petals of a rose, the sheen of peacock’s feathers, or the scales of a fish. Acrylic mediums allow her to create three-dimensional surfaces on the canvas, to emphasise the textures of the subjects, that makes people want to touch the paintings to be sure that the sandstone isn’t real.

Sue's early training was in commercial art and she continues her professional development undertaking regular online workshops with international artists (across acrylics, watercolours and mixed media) and continual indepth learning about art and framing materials.

Sue has shown her work as part of group exhibition at Noosa Regional Gallery and Gympie Regional Gallery. Her works were exhibited at the Willowgrove Gallery Noosaville before it closed in 2023. Sue was recently invited to exhibit at the EXHIBITION OF CONTEMPORARY ART “Gentil-Mente” in the Palazzo Ducale, Genova Italy
