A sunflower, beautiful even as it begins to wilt. This painting, and any others I create as part of this series, are a dedication to flowers, and a reminder to be grateful for their brief moments in time.

As I work on bettering my oil paintings, I've discovered that gouache is an amazing medium for the style I'm trying to achieve. Gouache is an opaque watercolour that dries with a beautiful matt finish, and the mix of blending and layering allows me to add as much or as little detail as I need.
