Layers upon layers upon layers. This painting was created carefully and over a very long period of time, with initial expressive brushstrokes followed by multiple glazes. This is a painting that jumps at the viewer; every glance will reveal something new. It's a painting that's supposed to come alive but without overburdening those who look upon it with too much colour or texture. Instead, a balance is reached between the sky and the foreground. Don't be fooled by the clouds though: they're not a simple flat layer of white, but every changing hues of grey and green. It's difficult to express, either through photo or processing, just how many subtle brush strokes are involved in the making of this piece.
My largest painting uploaded to date, I hope you appreciate the way it has come together the way I have.
Although painted on wood, this is thin enough to frame.
