Oil on paper
Signed on the front.
This is the sister piece to Storm Clouds Descending.
As I continue my journey into this exciting world of semi-abstract landscapes and oil paint, I'm finding myself stepping outside of my comfort zone and headlong into challenges that I wouldn't have contemplated even a year ago. For all my life, I've been a biological artist focused on detail and realism, so you can imagine how different this is for me. In this piece, I'm taking challenge further and experimenting with colours in a way that focuses more on mood rather than realism.
As with most of my oil pieces thus far, this piece was made with many layers over a long period of time, to allow the various hues and textures to make an impact. Glazes of Indian Yellow add the glow towards the bottom of the painting, adding to the complexity of the piece.
This painting would look amazing in a light frame with light matting. I hope you like it as much as I do.
